My Tamiya Clodzilla II Basher Build!

Hey Guys,

Well I have a BUNCH of parts coming in that I am extremely excited about for a Monster Truck that I'm doing. I snagged off of the good ol' craigslist a nice deal for a Clodzilla II chassis and I have ordered/scored some other parts as well, thought I would list them :D:

2x Futaba S3152 Digital Mid Torque Servos
Two Tamiya Silver Can 540 Motors
2x Venom 5000mah 30C Hard Case Lipos

I have a Super Clod Buster now that I love and I have a bone stock Tamiya Juggernaut 2 coming Tuesday which will be left stock except for the MSC will be replaced with the Tamiya TEU-103BK.

I actually bought an original Clodbuster last summer for just the price of shipping, only to get it and realize . . . the whole truck was a lost cause to fix but a wonderful parts truck. So I'm going to be using the body and body mounts off the original Clod Buster on the Clodzilla II chassis. Here is a picture of the only time my two Clods were assembled and together:

I love bashing my Super Clod Buster with my son whose now 20 months old, him and I spent just over an hour playing with the Super Clodbuster before his bedtime. The goal of the Clodzilla II is to make a Clod Buster that runs very well, handles and turns better than the original and can take a serious beating. I'm going to go with the dual steering servo for this building. I'm actually pulling the two steering servos out of my two Clods I own because they are only like 87 oz of torque which will be fine on both axles of the Clodzilla II. I just ordered 2x 193oz servos from Tower to put in my Super Clod Buster and the Juggernaut 2 I'm getting.

I'll keep posting pictures and what not as I get parts and make progress on this Clodzilla II build!!!!

Thanks

RE: My Tamiya Clodzilla II Basher Build!

Hey Guys,

*I had posted this in another forum and moving here, its only been about 1 week since I started this project of mine. Trying to get everything moved here as well!*

Sorry for the delay and I still don't have pictures, but I got all the parts, and while I have been a little disappointed with some aspects of the Clodzilla II, mainly the axles the guy sent mee being shot :flaming:, everything else on the truck is great, though I have some serious issues to fix!

First off with two stock silver cans and the EVX esc from Traxxas, the truck is a freaking rocket . . . I mean I can barely control the truck, which turns out might be a multitude of things, most importantly I think the issue are the servo savers in the axles, I noticed that the axles that came with the truck do not have servo savers and are just solid, so I'm going to install them on the Clodzilla to see if I can get some sanity back into driving this truck because at the moment its just to wild to really drive.

The truck came with the dual servo mounting plates but they are blank , I tried just mounting double sided sticky tape to them, that the servos would just rotate on the tape, so I went back to a single servo setup, which is not permanent, just . . . necessary at the moment till I figure out how to mount the servo's correctly.

I'm hoping to get pictures and maybe a video up soon of the truck, but right now I need to do a ton of tuning to get this truck more controllable!

Thanks

Another update!

I just finished reading the review here on the [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXYWM9&P=ML]Tactic TTX404 4-Channel Radio System[/link] and just ordered it for my Clodzilla II build from Tower. For 39.99 its a really hard deal to beat! This truck is going to have constant independent front and rear steering [>:]. Here is the link to the RCU review of it [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/article_display.cfm?article_id=1264]Tactic TTX404[/link]

I just need to get into the correct mindset to control it correctly . I currently have it connected to my Futaba 3PK but I've noticed I really want to be able to independently steer the front and rear wheels.

Let me know what you think!

Thanks
