I have been reading a few forums and heard rumors that Team Associated might discontinue the MMGT 3.0. Can anyone verify this?Has anyone else heard the Rumors?

Alot of things are pointing to that it will be discontinued....... Lot of sites have slashed the prices on them, and no aftermarket support.......... It really sucks to because the mmgt is really a great truck, I am going to buy another as a backup because I can't pass up the deal towerhobbies is having on them right now.....

Prices have dropped like $50 for me because I live in Canada and Im probably gonna get one in a week or two .But ya it would suck if they discontinue such a cheap and awesome monster truck.

Yeah I have a bad feeling that this tough little monster is on the way out. Really sucks as this thing is a beast, I can smoke my friends 4.6 and maxx. Now I am faced with the thought of even less support and parts availability. The way I beat this truck, the parts thing is a huge issue. I will not get rid of this truck but I am really thinking of getting a 4.6 for a primary basher. Just wish this mmgt would take off, such a great truck.

In the past if towerhobbies is cutting prices that means the it's discontinued.
I can see Team Associated having poor sales the truck is a real close to a tmaxx.
The mmgt 3.0 just doesn't have years of a long rep, and aftermarket support.
I still want one, i love this design. Not a tmaxx fan sorry.

We all know all Rc trucks have troubles and some are because of what we do to them.
They all can do can do "X" better than another, but they what about "Y".
They all will fail. But why some don't sell and get discontinued we will never know.

This still looks like such a good truck.

its all marketing, look at the eletric slash or the t-maxx, there both sponsored by real off-road race teams, and there pushing it out there for people to see, just like the frisbee, there not actually called frisbee's thats just what we no them as, but frisbee is just a brand name of a flying disc, the only time i see AE on anything is in the hobbyshop, and thats not enough to catch the people outside of the hobbyshop

Discontinued or not, doesn't matter to me given the low price. I just bought one from tower, added a set of control arms to get me over the $225 mark (coupon code on tower website gives $30 off on items $225 or more).

End price: $205 shipped to my door. That's a steal for this truck

so if i buy this mgt 3.0 which i plan to in a few days i should expect it to be discontinued and can i still get parts for it after it is discontinued? are there compatabilities for the 3.0? This happened to me with the rtx 27 i bought it then 1 month later is was discontinued lol? would i be better off buying the hpi firestorm??????

I would buy the MMGT because i heard its an awesome truck. You should still have parts support from AE for some time to come

ok so you would take that over the firestorm because honestly thats the only thing im worried about is the parts support because i know the firestorm will be around for a while

I love my MMGT. This past weekend is typical of how I drive it. I ran it off a set of concrete stairs and watched it hit nose first then flip end over end a few times and land on its feet. Drove it off and then went back to do it a few more times! I flip it a lot at high speed in corners and after a few side rollovers it lands on its' feet about 90% of the time. After a few a couple hours of bashing I had a broken front bumper ring, no other damage. I bought a bunch of spare parts but the only thing I regularly need to replace is the bumpers rings. I broke one suspension arm in the front a while back and besides the body being pretty chewed up I have had no other breakage.

The only serious problem I have had is the throttle servo arms are fragile and will break in nose to tail end-over. You MUST put a throttle return spring on this engine before you bash it. My first MMGT went full throttle and crashed into pieces, frame totaled, etc.. when the servo arm broke. Associated replaced the vehicle and I then went and bought the throttle return spring for the new truck. After I broke in the engine in I did a less than 3 foot jump, over revved and landed on the tail and it reversed flipped. This was on grass. The truck landed on its' feet but just sat there idling with no throttle response. I went over and popped the body off and the throttle servo arm was broken! The throttle return spring saved it. After that I put on an aluminum servo arm and no problems since then. I can bash all day now and it takes the abuse.

I bought a second one at Tower as a spare since it looks like it will be discontinued and I want to be able to drive this truck for as many years as I can.

That's crazy. AE was telling people it wasn't going to be discontinued, but that they were just selling them cheaper. That sucks. I don't own one, but my buddy does and it's a sweet little truck.

does anyone know how long we can expect parts support for this truck now? I'm sure this varies by manufacturer so it may not be easy to predict this

as long as there is a demand for parts, I would think we could find them. They are selling a lot of the mgt 3.0's, so I would think parts would be avaialable for a while.

I agree, I think parts support will be available for many years to come. You also have to remember that even after they stop manufacturing parts, places like Tower will have their own supply that will last a year, or maybe ten! You can still buy some brand new parts for RC10's that they haven't made for years and years! Once those parts supplies dwindle, their is always ebay!

i think the confusion is based on tower's terminology used in their shopping cart. i can think of a few products off the top of my head that are "discontinued" according to tower, but are still in production by the manufacturer. i emailed AE last night and here it the response i got today:

"As of this moment the MMGT3.0 has not been discontinued and I have heard no word that would suggest that it will be."

TOWER HOBBIES STOCK PILES THESE PARTS. WHILE THEY MIGHT NOT BY PRODUCING THEM ANY MORE, YOU SURELY WILL BE ABLE TO GET ORIGINAL PARTS FOR YEARS. I STILL BUY PARTS FOR MY RC10-GT THAT I BOUGHT IN 2000, AND IT HAS BEEN DISCONTINUED FOR SOME TIME NOW !!!!!!

I'm glad to hear it's not being discontinued! I guess Tower has just decided to no longer sell it.I wonder why? I imagine they're selling a decent amount of them, you know they sold like crazy when they dropped the price. Oh, well, A-Main's way better anyhow.

My guess would be that Tower wasn't making enough money on the 3.0, and AE was setting the maximum price they could sell it at, under contract with Tower.  And Tower probably just decided it wasn't worth the trouble to sell it any more.  IDK.

Yeah AE is claiming its not discontinued, I believe tower was just trying to get rid of alot of its overstock items, and at the original price it just wasn't selling......... So they slashed it causing other sites to do so as well......... The duratrax rt-x 27 prices were slashed and then discontinued, and now for some reason they have it back up for sale on their site at full price...... I'm guessing since it sold out quick like the AE tower decided to bring it back into stock, so they might do the same with the 3.0 since it was a top seller as well when they cut the price..
