This is STEM? It's a toy.

Stability, trimming, principle of CG position for predictable launch and transitions, and most of all, it looks cool. Next project is Mountain Lions, then F1D (grin).

Great time. Three problems of flight from Wright Brothers, understand problem 2. Center of Gravity in front of Center of Lift promotes stability. There is a very informative video on the Boeing model aircraft shop. By the end of the session, the club designs and tests their own (via one piece of dollar store foam for each team) by applying concepts of aerodynamics.

Cheers!

Would like a shout out to NVRC and Dr. Mark Franke for support and sponsorship of this MASC.

Joseph started this MASC at his middle school 6 years ago. It has been continuing ever since. MASC is a great way to get youth interested in model aviation.

To watch the students building (science Olympiad) models in the local hobby shop during winter break is the closest to the 1940's utopian vision of youth in model aviation I've witnessed.
