Setting up the Spektrum DSP S-60 J Servo
I had noticed over the last year or so that the rudder on my Vrolet would oscillate quite a bit around neutral with the DSP-60J servo. The elevator was fine but the rudder oscillated for some reason. What I did was move the pushrod in two holes in the control arm and now there is no oscillating. This moved the harmonic away from that point and everything works great now!
I then re-adjusted the throw useing the Spektrum DSP (Digital Servo Programmer). The unit is very simple to use. Basically I plugged a 4.8 battery into the DSP, then the rudder servo into the servo plug. I hit the PWM button and the servo deflected to the right. Then I grapped the servo and twisted it over to the max throw I wanted. Next I hit the PWM button again and it moved to left full deflection. Again, I grabbed the servo arm and twisted it to the correct end point adjustment. Finally, I hit the PWM button again and the servo came back to neutral (I could have also adjusted the center point if I wanted but it was already set up mechanically correct). I then unplugged the servo from the DSP and back into the Spektrum 6300 rx and tested it out. Everything worked great. I then proceeded to set the plane up on the DX6i transmitter. A great radio which is very capable and easy to program.
