Any news as to when the release date of this baby will be? It seems to be moving back a month every time I look on Horizon's site.
Any idea on the date Mike?

hey mike,
Im looking at this plane for my next project. I need to get a realistic weight of the air frame and also built up weight with the DA85. the electric motor is about the same weight as theDA85 also what is the DA85 hp.
this is my plan
Hacker A100 motor 4lb. (7.5hp )
27x12 prop
4lb. lipo batterys (10s 8000mHa)
4 JR8611
1 JR8711
AR7000
2 A123 6v.rx batt
Im hoping for 200 watts per lb.
Thanks

Weight with the DA-85 with an MTW 110 canister exhaust and comparable radio equipment/batts is approx 21.75lbs.

I am also a little worried about my preorder. I hope there is no production problem for the suckoi. Hope to get mine this spring.

Without getting into a slinging match, whats the difference between this plane and the Wild Hare 35% Sukhoi of the same look?

Without getting into a slinging match, whats the difference between this plane and the Wild Hare 35% Sukhoi of the same look?
IMO
The wild hare is larger and a little heavier. It was meant as a plane that can use the 80cc through the 115 cc motors

The hangar 9 is purpose built for the Da 85 and other 80cc engines. It is a really good sized plane but still really light for the power of the DA85.

You could put a number on it and call the Wild hare a 35% @~25 pounds and the hangar 9 a 33%@~22pounds Its not fair to compare the 2 planes since they are in different size classes.

id like to hear what you think comparing this plane to the 33%sd yak, the specs are similar with the sukoi being a tad longer and wider with a smidge more wing area, i had my name on the list for the yak, says they are in stock but they havnet called me so i am not locked in for sure, i have a zdz80 without a home and narrowed it down to these 2 planes, i fly mainly 3d type stuff at the moment but have recently wanted to get in to the imac sequence, the sukoi seems to me like it may be more sleek in the air and may make for a better pattern flyer than a yak, any comments? everybody with a yak and an extra for example say the yak is better for 3d only and the extra does imac and 3d well, i am curious if the sukoi may fill the need for me in both areas...

I only have seen the SD yak on line as well as the sukoi so these opinions are based on that.

I like this sukoi over the SD based on just the control horns the sd has the screw on and these MM designed planes the control horn is a solid screw that passes through the surface. I have heard many good things about the 33% SD plane but the build of it doesn't make me want one like the MM designed Sukio and extra 260. The plane comes complete with all gear needed and thats not a sales pitch its actually true Titanium turn buckles good H9 ball links etc etc. Plus you cant go wrong with Horizon its a great company to deal with.

Theres a pilot that flys near me (NCFR I dont know if he want me to use his name on the net so ill leave it out for now) that just destroyed every one in sportsman this past year (won every contest he was in except the first one i think 7 total wins he also won Tuscon by day 3) who flew the sukio in a imac contest last year after losing his main plane to a mid air and he said the sukoi was a blast to fly. He won that contest having only flown the plane 1 or 2 times that day before the contest started. That was the first time MM showed the sukio to the world as I'm told.

To sum it up MM has made this plane imo an imac capable 3d flyable or just a fun plane to fly you pic it this plane will do it at 21.75 # with a can.

i do like the fact that some of the stuff is already done too, thats very nice. however i am still kinda tossed, be nice to hear reports on this one from real people once they fly it, i may wait for just that, i am not in a big hurry, ive read many good things about the sd so i need more input on this one i think....i know already from my motor in a comp arf that even at 23lbs it had plenty of power with a 26-8 prop, either plane is supposed to be just below that so i am not overly concerned about weight, i think both should have similar wing loading, it seems to me, from looking at pics anyway, that the sukoi is a bit narrower with a smaller cowl, which led me to believe it should be sleeker with less drag, hence me thinking that should benefit the imac part of flying, so i guess for the time being i will just hold my motor up and make engine sounds...and hope to hear some reports about this puppy soon, ive been eying up the orange sd yak for a while, but interested enough on this one to wait

Some one around hear will have one and they will let me fly it hard then ill give ya the skinny on its true 3d capabilities. From What the pilot i talked about earlier said its a true 3d beast with an 85. I will only stop short of saying it 100% since I haven't got to bend the sticks but if he said it its true. The kid doesn't lie or try to sell ya. Either way you get a really good plane.
