Default YS 50ST engine question

my local hobby store was telling me to go to gas powered as soon as possible becasue of nitro costs. i want to upgrade my raptor 30 to a 50 come spring time after flying in the winter (weather permitting). when i upgrade, i think i'll go to a gas engine. does anyone know anything about the YS 50 ST engine?

The YS 50ST is a nitro engine. For a 50 size nitro is the way to go.

There's no real "drop in" 50 size gas engine.

About the only thing I know in that size range is this thing http://www.heli-world.com/detail.aspx?ID=9577 and I really don't know anything about it as I've only seen one in person and it wasn't flying.

ok, thank you. apparently some people have tried it, but theres no "success stories" but also there isn't any "failure stories". i doubt it but i could see if my LHS has one and would let me see if it would fit. or, because they open almost everything in their store before someone buys it, they might be able to tell me if it would fit. Thank You Very Much

Keep in mind that "fitting" is only one small part of the process, then you'd have to find the correct gearing.

Yea, i think i'm gonna stick with nitro because of the power and wieght thing compared to gas. my raptor just came today! charging it over night for my first flight(s) tomorow! I have a question though, where to i mount my glow plug extension, it doesn't seem to fit anywhere.

Not sure what type you have but mine are mounted to the lower right hand motor mount screw (the one that holds the mount to the frame)

Ok, thank you. it doesn't seem to fit there easily, i think i'm going to modify the extension and/or frame slightly to get it to fit there.
