Default DX7 Setup using ACE TG7000 on Raptor 30

I'm finally converting my Raptor 30 V2 to 2.4ghz and have everything almost setup. I'm using the ACE RC TG7000 Gyro the Helo came with and it worked fine with the old radio setup. Now the problem I'm having is when I hover the tail wags back and forth with out any inputs, it actually did one piroet (pretty scary that close to the ground). I'm slowly going through the manual, but not too sure what changes on the DX7 I need to do, (think I need to increase the Gyro gain but the TG7000 has no gain adjustments on the gyro, it must be done though the radio, but how). Thanks for the help.

Just got off work and was pouring through the Spektrum manual. I think I have it figured out. My rcvr an AR7000 is setup as follows; CH1-Throttle, CH2-Aileron, CH3-Elevator, CH4- To Gyro(rudder), CH5-"gear" Gyro gain lead, CH6-AUX-1 Pitch servo, CH7-Aux2-Batt mon. I believe I have to assign the Gear channel as Gyro function. I wont be able to test it out till tomorrow. We'll see.

I finally got my Raptor Helo running perfect today with my DX7 (no more tail wag). I did a google search and found the following; "On the DX7, go to system mode to the INPUT SELECT screen. Set AUX2 to INH, GEAR to GYRO. Now exit FUNCTION MODE, go to GYRO SENS screen and set it to RUDD D/R and set your rates for Switch position 0 and 1. Now go to the THRO HOLD screen and set to SW:AUX2.

Setting up GYRO gain on the DX7 is as follows, a gain value (GEAR Channel output value) of less than 50% = Rate mode, a gain value of greater than 50% sets the gain into Head hold mode for your GYRO."

Don't quite know if any of this makes sense or even helps anyone, but it helped me and I now have my Raptor .30 to run with the DX7 on 2.4GHZ. Pretty happy about that.

Glad you sorted that out man!!

Most radios can set the gyro in and out of HH mode with a 50, + or - setting, I'm pretty sure. its just that they all do it diffrently.

good show dude!!

Thanks! Took the Rapy out today to Sepulvida basin (LA California) and she flew great. Taking it slow, just put on the new radio, Carbon fiber rotor blades, header tank, and new muffler, (the old one was falling appart). Here's a pic, cause I'm bored!

Thanks Colrod12! Few more mods to do and I'll be happy. I really need to switch my battery pack from 4 cell nicad to 5, or go to LION, I have not decided yet. I'm married so money is always an issue, gotta take it slow, a little bit at a time.
