Default OS 50 Hyper

So went to fly today... my OS 50 wont crank... well it did ran for about 30 seconds then died and refused to crank again. It has a new Enya #8 plug... Weird thing is I saw fuel dripping from the motor. Not around the glow plug that was dry...Its also not coming from the carb or the fuel line… this motor is new.. I can’t seem to figure out what the hell is going on... Any ideas?

Take the plug out

Close the main needle

Spin the engine over with the starter for five seconds

Put the plug back in, open the main needle 1 and 1/4 turns and try to start the engine again

Let us know how this goes

Did that at the feild, didnt seem to do anything. it wasent hydro locked or anything like that. once the plug was reinstalled it did the same thing... the muffler is warm and a very small amount of smoke but the engine wont run... and fuel still dripping from somewhere. Im about to pull the engine and look it over good... Still no idea...

I know you said the engine is new, but has it ran well at all, if only for a short time or have you never managed to get bit going ?

Just a thought, is the carb pushed fully into the crankcase seated on the 'O' ring and tightend enough ?

yeah I have one flight on it, it ran well. then my servos were reversed....yeah anyways crashed (not bad at all just blades and feathering shaft) had it in a hover a few times after that. Now its just being stupid. Ill check the carb. Going to pull the engine latter today. thanks for the tip.

So i took it apart... the carb was seated correctly. I took it off and wiped it clean. reinstalled it. I removed the backplate and all looked fine (except note 3) the head bolts were tight but they all went maybe 1/8th of a turn.3 things i think are odd. 1st.. the muffler had a decent amount of unburned fuel in it. prehaps it wasent sealed or tight enough on the motor? 2nd, the compression seems low. However I dont really have a good way to check this. I can hear air bypassing it when I turn it by hand. this might be normal?Lastly... there seemed to be alot of rust inside the engine. it all wiped free but still struck me as odd... So now what should I do/try?

THey bubble at the ring gap so that noise is normal.

The "rust" may have been oil residue, what fuel do you run?

If its Cool Power Heli, or Magnum, then its just oil residue. (pretty much any of the red heli fuels)

Rapicon Heli fuel. its a pink fuel (or red) and is 15%nitro and 18-19% oil if i remember correctly. So with that...I hope the problem is that the muffler wasn’t sealed good. Should I use the aluminum gasket that it came with or not? I’ve heard/read both ways. With the TT39 I didn’t use it and it worked fine.

I dont use gaskets, if the surface is true you dont need one. If it does leak use a VERY THIN smear of red RTV

Seems like I found the problem. When I was putting the engine back in today I found out the lower bolt hole on the muffler is stripped out... So now I have to get a longer bolt and nut for it to bad its snowing and I wanna go flying in it...
