Default Lets See Ur "Naked" Raptors

Hey everyone,

Do you have any pictures of your Raptor mechanicals? i.e. what does she look like without the canopy? Closeups of the main rotor hub, collective pitch control arm, servos, tail rotor, header tank, wiring, etc.?

I want to see if mine looks like yours :-)

Paul,

Sorry about the photo. I did not realize that the forum only allows one picture.

Just email me and I will send you some of my Rappy pix before and after the upgrade.

Regards,

G2Driver, where did you get those 'C' shaped (rather than '0' shaped) Hiller linkages? And do you know if they have them for the 30/50 Raptors?

Default unoval links

Hi, they were picked up in Japan for me personally. Unfortunately, the hobby shop there does not mail order out of the country, (that's what I have been told).

The half oval links are great on the 60, due to the fact that the pitch horn on the blade grips have a droop and contact the stock oval links with cyclic input.

The Raptor 30/50 does not suffer the problem as bad and thus, I think the standard metal upgrade oval links work okay on those models.

Here'a link to the web site.

http://www.m-pro.jp/

They work great, and are ball bearinged at the bottom where it connects to the washout arms.

Default Oval Links

I have the ones that have the loop and hook at the top and they rub on the pitch mixing arm screw. I was thinking of cutting part off one half to make them C-shaped like Raj's, but for now I just made them oval.

Hey TechnikVR, that looks like it would work! Yours are beefy enough to do the job.

I have some metal oval links from Helij-Proz, but they are thin where the screw attaches to the ball link. I too thought about cutting the oval in half but the ones you have (K&B), seem like they would be perfect and relatively inexpensive.

My half ovals ended up costing about $65.

I want a set of half ovals. Where did you get those TechnikVR?

I want them just to make rotor maintenance easier.

This his site, but it is under reconstruction as of last night. I sent him an e-mail yesterday informing him that his flybar hoop design rubbed against the pitch arm and was not compatible with TT's flybar control arm. The ovals are only about 20.00 I believe shipped.

I just used a dremel cutting disc to cut them and then took the dremel sanding drums and smoothed it out. If you want to make them anodized looking I just found some metal anodizing paint at O'reily's called Dupli-color MetalCast which works awesome. I will post the pictures of them anodized painted after I finish.

The metal ovals are great but they tend to rub against the metal blade grips I am also using. I have since reverted back to using the original plastic ones.

I am thinking of using a strip of teflon on the contact point between the oval and the blade grip.

Default upgrades

All those upgrades are available through most of your TT dealers. For example, Rick's, Heli-Proz, Heli-Hut, etc ,etc.

G2 driver, are we related, or is it just our helis

I highly recommend the elevator push pull link for servo longevity, this is an r30 push pull with an additional 90mm rod to the servo...

Bits you cant see are QUK Fan, 90 size clutch and bell...

Currently on order are the QUK flybar carrier and headbutton, then its the carbon collective cradle....

Default What a Beauty!

Very nice! I've never seen such nice setups. That is something that would go well on my mantel piece!

I've got a few tips from looking at your setups like your aerial mounting, your glow extension mounting and a few other little things. I was told to put my glow extension on my undercarriage where my aerial was. The whole thing was weekened so I've had to buy a new set. I will post a pic of mine in a while when it is fully upgraded.
Galifrey, what size is your receiver pack? I asked about a 4500 pack on my 30 w/TT39 and I was shouted back into a box with 'OVERKILL, OVERKILL!!!' But it is not much larger than normal. Although you've got a 60, your pack seems similar than those on an electric heli. How many flights a day do you get? Sorry I'm swaying off the subject. Here's a pic of my 30 as a before shot (with canopy I'm afraid!). I will get an after shot in a while and post it . This one is when I first got it and is the only pic I have.

PS: There's a pic of my batt pack below this post

Default push/pull elevator

I'd love to try the push/pull elevator, however, I run my tail rotor servo's in the stock location (personal preference) and I do not think the push/pull will work with it there.

I'll look at it closer and see if I can space the elevator or tail rotor servo out and get some clearance??

I highly recommend the Quick UK headblock!

Later,
Raj

Yeah think you are right, worth moving the tail rotor servo to use the push pull link, the stock system is a servo bearing killer...

I suppose if you used the system you have for the tail rotor servo that would help, the tail rotor servo doesnt really need much additional support by comparison...

I hate you guys! Now I need to go out and buy a bunch of aluminum upgrades! I only have the washout upgrade.

Here's what I've got now:

I'm in the process of converting my 30v2 to a 50v2. I still need a pipe and 3 JR8311's.

Default Metal head and tail

Hi, just posting pics of my Raptor 30 new head and tail, not installed yet as I'm wanting to crash first then upgrade and feel the difference. I have loads of upgrades just waiting to be fitted but there's almost a whole other heli so now I'm not scared to crash! Everything is blue as well so it should look pretty sexy! Blue Tail Boom, Blue Boom Supports, Blue head, Blue Swashplate Blue Tail, Blue Aliminium skids and I might paint the canopy, hhmm what colour, BLUE . And a bit of yellow possibly. It started small, but it's now a sickness!

This is the same but bigger and purple. OVERKILL? I don't care, at least she will look good. It's not harmfull to have a bit of pride in your heli. My raptor 30 is an only child at the moment so I spoil her!

Can't wait, all that, a new TT39 and a set of SAB 550's she'll be zoomin' !

James
