Starter Coupling / engine misalignment
The starter coupling on my Raptor 50 does not freewheel while engine is running, it can be turned by hand with engine off but it has some resistance.
When engine is removed it turns just fine. Obviously the engine is misaligned somehow. But there is no room for alignment. Is the frame misaligned and if so how can I fix that problem. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks. |
Starter Coupling / engine misalignment
I just got my first heli. R50. I didn't know to check the clutch rub. I carried it to the field where the local expert showed me the problem and the solution.
Loosen the motor mount bolts about 1-2 turns. Grab the bottom of the frame. Twist the hell out of it. I mean really, really work it. Try twisting different ways while someone else spins the clutch. When it stops touching you're done. Tighten back up, verify, and if it rubs you'll have to loosen and try again. You might have to loosen the motor to mount bolts as well depending on how bad yours is. LOL. |
