Default Removing Spinner

I am trying to remove a spinner, but the screws are so reamed out, that a screwdriver just revolves and can't get a bite. What is the best way to attack this problem? Thanks. Jim

At this point, you can try useing a drill bit to drill off the heads. The screws should only be attached to the spinner back plate at this time & the front half of the spinner will pull off. This will probably leave you with a useable spinner.( a left hand drill bit would be even better if you have access to them, since it may back out the screw while you are drilling) If that doesnt work, try cutting it apart with an X-acto blade in a soldering gun, till you can get to the screw heads with a pair of pliers & turn out the screws. Either way you'll get it off. Good luck with this......Gene

I believe that you know that those are Allen bolts; hence, a screwdriver is the wrong tool.

In most of the cases, it takes a 3/32" allen wrench.

Lnewqban,
Quite a few of the plastic spinners out there use phillips head screws to attach the spinner. I've found this especially true in the spinners that come with ARF's these days!

A star type driver with the tip edges sharpe will sometime do the trick, The tipe must be a little smaller than the phelps head. This will also work on the allen head.

Oops;..........I stand corrected.

If they are Phillips, they may be soft enough to drill them thru the heads.

Sorry

Thanks for all the good advice. I eventually had to do it the old fashioned way.( I didn't like that spinner anyway!) However, from now on I am definitely going to stick with Allen bolts.
