Default Nitrate dope

Here is one for those in the know.
Can minwax polyc be applied over nitrate dope?? Covering my spacewalker, and the fumes are killing me, want to use the polyc to finish sealing and filling the weave instead of nitrate.

Thanks
Derrick

And all this time I thought the fumes were the reason for using dope!

Why not try painting a sample with the nitrate dope and then put the Min-wax over it and see what happens?

"Can minwax polyc be applied over nitrate dope??"

The beauty of Nitrate dope. You can put it over ALMOST anything, and you can put ALMOST anything over it.

Notice that I emphasize ALMOST. Like Laird said, try a sample, give it a few days to cure, and see. Only then, will you know for sure.

Nitrate dope will not go over butrate dope. But butrate will go over nitrate

Nothing will reliably go over butyrate, except butyrate. Problem being that, butyrate continues to shrink; forever.
