Can clear Polyurethane be used as a fuel proofing on an engine bay?

It CAN... but I don't recommend it. My preferred fuelproofing is 2 hour epoxy. Goes on like a reasonably thin paint, soaks into the wood very well, and you never have a problem. (often takes 24 hours to quit being "tacky"... depends on humidity and temperature while it cures.)

I wouldn't recommend it either. I found that clear polyurethane can be damaged by 15% nitro fuel.
