Propbuster, I'd say you made good use of your $300.00, looks like a very nice shop. "Starting to get full of stuff" means at least you're using it. If I had the property space, I would consider a project such as yours, just to get "all the mess" out of the house.

Woodstock45678, it may be small, but it's clean and has good lighting. A little space is better than no space at all. It would be perfect for small, rubber or e-powered models. The smaller the planes, the bigger the shop seems.

Thanks Delray! Yeah for the longest time I had all my stuff in the bedroom hanging on the walls and stacked to the ceiling! My wife was happy to have a bedroom again rather than the "hanger" as she called it.

My 1st shop was a 8'x14' room framed inside my two-car garage. It was used for over a dozen years. When we built our current house five years ago, we included a 16'x35' attached shop. Since then, my hobbies have outgrown the shop and my wife's have outgrown the house, so our home office and exercise equipment are moving to the attached shop and the new shop is detatched, 44'x30'. Life is good!

Teachu2, are you sure 44'x30' is going to be big enough? Those measurements are almost a little bigger than my house. Are you planning on having full utilities in the new shop? Will it be all one room or divided up into special areas? When I built our new garage, I thought I was building it plenty big at 30'x28', looks like I was a little wrong .

Teachu2, it's a shame you have to work in such cramped conditions, but I'm sure you'll make the best of it. Welding shop, is that another hobby? What types of welding will you be doing there? No matter which part of the shop you go to, it looks as though you'll be busy. You haven't mentioned the machining room yet, what shop is complete without a mill, drill, lathe, and cut off saw? I hope we get to see more pics as the project continues. Yat-28E, stop sobbing, I can hear you way over here...wait, that might have been me.

Well, I can't take the pressure any longer, someone has to do it, might as well be me. I have to admit, I'm the one that put the "ug" in ugly when referring to "ugly workshop".

It's my little piece of heaven down in the basement, I call it "my dungeon", it even has cobwebs to add to the realism.As the pictures tell the story, you can see it's not neat, but sorta-kinda organized. I've received flak before concerning the curtains, they were mandated by the wife (out of my control). Basically, what I have is one end of the basement, with strict "forbidden zones", such as the washer/dryer area, I'm close, but safe there. So far, that is. I do have some aircraft storage permission at the other end of the basement, warned to stay clear of her clothes lines.[>:]

My three in one machine is a nice addition to my shop, I've made good use of it for many projects. I've made smoke mufflers, ignition parts, prop combination nut and thrust washers, wheels, brakes, landing gear parts, and pieces for the wife's tv trays. Believe it or not, there is a 4'x8' building/work table under all those airplanes.

My welding hobby has grown into a second income over the years. I do stick, mig, tig and OA, and have a mobile setup as well. It grew out of a desire for better quality items than I could find or afford. Most home fences in this area are cedar or redwood, and the gates tend to fall apart quickly. I custom build steel frames that allow the replacement gates to look like the original from the outside, but not sag/bind/collapse. I also have built a number of projects for myself, including tables and an outside kitchen. I take on welding work as time allows - usually just enough to pay for more tools! My regular job has expanded over the last couple of years, and it pays well, so I don't do as much welding as I'd like to. Getting ready to build new tables for the new workshop, tho......

Man oh man,,,, some of you guys have it real good. my "shop" is a 4x8 door blank on two saw horses stuffed into a corner of my garage. All my power tools are in a closet and are pulled out as needed. I would love to have a dedicated shop just for my model building but there is this thing called "money" have you ever heard of it. seems like the more of it you have the bigger the shop you can have. Don't get me wrong.I can still build with the best of them but I envy those of you who have a "real" shop. Here is a photo of my "stone and chisel" building.

Perfect example that you dont need a big shop to build beautiful models. That is gorgeous!! Very nice work on the bipe!!!!

I am the same, just a door blank, two saw horses and lots of roll around carts with my building tools/supplies that are easy to take out and easy to store.

Someday when we build a house on a couple of acres I will have a shop for my R/C, business stuff, and the occasional work to be done on a car. Then I will have my own paved strip in a field I can fly off of without packing up and going to the club.

My wife just says my shop can not be bigger than her house.

Well boys----I'm very fortunate to be able to utilize my whole 2 car garage as my work-shop & Hanger,,,,,, Boy isn't this a great Hobby---
