Default how do I make a clear canopy

I need to carve some kind of material so that I can vacuum form a canopy. I have never done this before so I am not sure what material to start with. I have the vacuum box part figured out but its the form its' self I am not sure about. Can this be carved from foam, then plastered/sanded and primered?

NO, foam will not work as it is too soft. The plug needs to be of a HARD substance.

If you already have a canopy, put a THIN coating of vasoline on the inside of the canopy and fill the canopy with FINE grit modeling plaster.

If you don't have a canopy to start with, carve one out of wood. Make the plug PERFECT. ANY defects in the plug WILL SHOW on the finished canopy.

Here is a link to A LOT OF VERY GOOD INFORMATION on a variety of topics.
