Prop Washer Size and Weight
I was down in my shop this morning getting things ready to go flying when I decided to change out the prop. Found that I need a different size washer to fit on the shaft so that the spinner would fit. Hmmmm went thought all washers that I had and did not find what I need.....
Hmmmm now what to do..... so... sitting there and pondering the lint in my navel I looked upon my wall to see some old used MAS props ...[X(].... What if I cut the tips of ??? the center hole is the same as the shaft?? and because it plastic I can shave it to what ever size I need.... and the weight difference between a metal washer and plastic has got to be good as well...
you got it .... I now have a perfect fit and light weight washer after 15 minutes of work ....and ...put the old prop to some use as well.
let me know what you think ...there must be other Pros and Cons

I have done exactly that several times on long shaft engines when the use prop was thin. Once on a modern Rossi and several times on vintage ignition engines. I did however use machined spinner prop nuts which have a machined washer surface. If you are using just a nut on the composite or wood prop then I may have second thoughts.

Flyboy .... needed just over 1/4" thick washer for the 2 1/4" spinner ...it has a very short depth adapter nut.... the shaft is fine ...do not need to cut it off.
The thickness of the master air 14x6 hub being what it is ...it offers a wide range of thickness that can be cut.

Well heck Dave, as a graduate of the 'Secret Site' on Terminal island I would have thought you of all people would understand the use of a simple expediant.
As for me I don,t think it wise to be cutting on my treasured Dennymites.

I'm used to those K&B's with the removable prop stud....
(the T.I. thing is still a secret
