Default uber skiver

bought one of these years ago thru model builder then never heard of them again, finally found what they used for blades,no.11 scapel blades with the end broken off.i hold them with linesmen pliers then hit the square end with a hammer to snap it off,no it looks like the original blades and fits the handle.

Thanks Captjack, I also have the Uber Skiver and do need new blades. IMHO that is a very good tool and outperforms the more popular brand. The only fault, somewhat delecate blade strength.

I went to a surgical supply place and bought #11 scalpel blades and handles after seeing then recommended on Dave Platt's video. (It's just a coincidence that the #11 scalpel blade is similar to, tho a little narrower than, the #11 blade of the popular brand, but it's convenient not to have to learn a new number! Especially for limited capacity memories like mine.) Dave was right - the scalpel blades are much sharper than the hobby blades.

Another advantage is the flat handles: A) They don't roll off the banch. B) You can FEEL the blade orientation. It's same as the handle, unlike with the round handles. This is sometimes a help working in tight quarters where the big round chuck gets in the way.

When I run low on blades next time I will try to find a source for Autopsy blades instead of surgical. The difference is autopsy blades do not need to be sterilized and are therefore less expensive but they are just as sharp.
