Default How to remove CA stains

I have done it again...
Spilled CA on the cowl of my EF Yak-54. Even though I cleaned it immediately, there is a stain there.
Any way of removing the stain.

Thanks.

Probably wouldn't hurt if we knew what the cowl was made of, is it bare, painted, or what ?

Different fixes for different types of hangar rash, y'know . . .

Hello Fred.
Sorry, should have given more details.
The cowl is fiberglass and gel coated. Paint is blue.

If it is Gelcoat, you can use acetone, but if it is paint, it may be there for a while.

Acetone will soften and remove the dried ca, but I'm afraid it may also attack the cowl finishing. How big is the spot ? You could sand the surface and repaint it, or apply a decal over it.

Hello,

Use Debonder made especially for airplane building stuff. They are not as agressive as Acetone
unless the cowl is Gelcoated. Try a small area first. DP

Maybe you should visit the Zap web site and peruse the MSDS for Zap Z-7 Debonder.

The product is 95 to 100 % _acetone_.

Yo,

The best thing to do is throw away the cowl and order a brand new one (70 bucks plus 15 for "handling"). That way, you don't have to worry about CA stuff. DP

I think the best solution might be a "DA" decal

[sm=thumbup.gif] Now the ca spot is working to your advantage ! But do smoothen it a bit before applying the decal
