I have a wing that I just covered the bottom with white monokote. I want to put red on the top but the only red I have is a new roll of ultracote.
Is this compatable to use this on the top with out problems. I have never used ultracote but this roll was given to me.

ultracoat will seal and shrink at a lower temp than mono coat. It also will form better around corners. I have not tried the two of them together though. My suggestion would be to try some out on some scrap balsa and see how they react to each other.

ricdel, I've always been a Monokote user. Not because I think it's better than Ultracoat, it's just because I've been at this hobby for so long before Ultracoat appeared on the scene, that I've just stuck with what I know! Each has it's own followers. I have however used some Ultracoat that I won as a prize, as trim over monokote, and it worked just fine. I see no reason why you can't use them together except....
I would say that if Ultracoat works at a lower temperature than Monokote as cincigyroflyer suggests, it would make sense that you could put Ultracoat over Monokote, but not the other way around.
Anybody else?
Cheers, Nigel

ricdel,
Monocoupe is correct. Your besdt results will be with UltraCote/Oracover over the MonoCote. Make sure the Mono is "tight" first. Cut your trim and lay it using abt. 180 degree setting. This will avitate the glue on the Oracover but will not shrink the covering. I've used this method on about 100 covering jobs with excellent results. Ultra over Ultra, Ultra over Mono, etc.
Go slow, work from the center outward on the trim and you'll be a happer camper.
