I get my phenolic from a wood working store. They carry it to make templetes and jigs for power tools. Not cheap.

Have you tried trendlines, woodworkers, rockler, or any of the plastic distibutors in your city???

McMaster-Carr Supply. They have it in various thicknesses in 12"x12" sheets. You can order online. It's called G10 board.

Just as a reminder!!!
Phenolic has asbestos in it. Material isn't dangerous unless you get dust out of it, then it's a problem. Make sure you were a respirator, or keep the Phenolic wet will you saw, sand, ect.... Asbestos isn't impossible to work with, just don't let it get into fine dusty airborne particles!!!!!

I don't know if phenolic (printed circuit) board is the same thing as G10 board. From what I understand, G10 board has glass fibers in it.

I donno about the circuit board, but true phenolic has the asbestos in it. It's really a big combination of meterials. Very good material for templates, and I see it used to make pump impellars on a regular basis, and when I machine the tolerances I always keep some water on it to eliminate the dust. Why take the chance??

Default PHENOLIC

If you will look here....

http://www.tufnol.com/menu1_.htm

and here......

http://www.sdplastics.com/phenolic.html

you will see that the contents can be things other than asbestos.

Thanks for all your help guys. McMaster-Carr has something called "Garolite". It's a carbon fibre bassed product that should prove to be stronger then the Phenolic, and NO ASBESTOS. (yea)

Default Phenolic

Phenolic is a solid laminate that is sold mostly through Laminate dealers, (Wilson Art) and is used a lot for toilet partitions. If you can find a company that sells the toilet partitions they will have scrap pieces. If you by it new it comes in 1/4 1/2 5/8 and 3/4" and cost from $9.00 to $12.00 sq ft. It has no asbestos in it.
If you live in the Atlanta area there is a company in Winder called Atlanta Sunbelt that has scrap pieces sometimes

The last time I bought any, (Carb spacers for a 3.7 twin), I got it from Boedecker Plastics, (Do a google search). Ordered it over the phone and they shipped to my door.

Steve, just FYI, you can hit "edit" to change your post instead of making a new post.
