I have been asked how you would go about splitting a cowl and hinging it on top so will open in half. A fellow flier is going to install a twin in his plane ( guess its a CUB ) and asked how you do it. ANY SUGGESTIONS?

I did exactly this on my GP 40 Cub. I put a Saito .60 twin in it. I used a fiberglass cowl from Stan's Fiber Tech. I split the cowl at the centerline of the cylinders. Cut with a Dremel. I then epoxied small plywood tabs to the top half of the cowl at four places, two in from and two on back. I secure the cowl with #2 screws and washers through the cowl to the tabs. I can take the top of the cowl off to work on the engine. It looks and works great.
I think there was an article about doing exactly this in either MAN or RCM about three years ago.
