hey everyone, I just bought the hangar9 HAN3025 remote glow plug adapter but it didn't come with a manual.... Does anyone how how to install ? pictures would be very helpful !!! thx

Ya, the wire just goes through the firewall and attaches to the glow plug. The other end (that attaches to your driver) goes wherever it's convenient (hopefully kind of hidden). Got mine inside the cockpit deck (no canopy so access is easy).

The remote adapter can go wherever it's convenient and unobtrusive. I put mine in the cockpit whenever possible (no canopy). The center post wire connects to the glow plug cap, and the other wire grounds to the engine block ( I use one of the engine mounting screw holes.)

I am also installing one of these Hangar 9 Remote Glow adapters and am having a lousy time with it. I have installed onboard glow systems before so I am familiar with the process, but this remote adapter is refusing to work right. I have the ground on one of the Cylinder head mounting bolts so I know the ground it good (same place I normally mount the onboard glow ground). However, when I put in a test plug (outside the engine) and touch it to the head I get a very low current and no heat. It barely registers green on the scale of my driver and the element never heats up. Tried multiple plugs and even grounded the remote plug right to the glow plug case. Same results.

There is clearly a circuit there since the Igniter meter moves but not enogh to light the plug. If I use the same plug and test it directly in the driver its lights right up.

Anybody seen this before?? I am thinking that this rig is too simple to be bad but I am out of ideas....

Couple of things you need to check.

1. Is your glow ignitor fully charged ? The remote ignitors take more power because of the longer wires.

2. Are ALL the connections clean ?

3. Are the solder connections good ? The insulation on the glow plug end can usually be pulled back and the remote part (where your ignitor goes ) will come apart with some careful use of a #11 blade (use plastic model cement to re-assemble it ).

If that doesn't solve the problem, you have a bad part in the wire.

Voltage drop through the wires.

Hook a C or D size alkaline battery up to the remote glow. Thats 1.5 volts--your ignitor is only 1.2 volts.

Just tape a couple wires on the alkaline battery. Touch positive to the pin and negative to the body on the remote glow stub and then look at your plug.

If the alkaline battery makes the plug glow hotter then you know it's just voltage drop through the wires.

Maybe you can shorten the wires or you could solder up larger wires to the remote glow unit. You'll get less voltage drop through a multi-stranded wire thats larger in diameter.

Could be the ground. The black paint or coating on the engine mounting screws could be resistance. Also the little metal clip on the ground wire of the remote unit could have paint on it. Paint screws up your ground. Maybe take the dremel and scuff all the bolt heads and wire connectors to get clean metal? Might improve the ground and help current flow.

I'm just guessing though. [] I could be totally full of it. Just brainstorming.

You can hook it up like this.
One cable to ground (one of the bolts on the engine).
The other cable to the glowplug.

Then Both going to a socket placed somewhere on the fuselage.
I use the Kavan, spring loaded clip on the glowplug.

It turned out to be related to the painted socket cap screw that I attached it to. For whatever reason, that was prohibiting a good connection. I attached the ground to the engine mounting bolt instead and the glow plug lit right up. Although I AM going to shorten those wires. Every bit of resistance seems to matter.
