I'm restoring an Andrews Aeromaster and was wondering what is the best pushrod system today. 25 years ago I used cable in a tube on my pattern ships, but assume there may be something better now days.
I think I want something in a tube but don't know which is best. I just bought the tube with a solid wire (24" kwick link wire) in it but I'm having second thoughts about that.

Why? If it works - use it .. I personally line wood pushrods (dowels) as they tend to expand like the fuse and therefore no pitch change.

Go to your local swamp in the late spring and pick a bunch of dry cat-tails (bull rushes)
You'll be amazed how light and strong they are.
A coat of urethane, and there you have a pushrod.
Have been using these for years.

I live in the city. One really would not want to explore the local "Swamp"

I use Sullivan "Golden Rods" I have used the old dowel and wire ones and they do work well, but for ease I use the golden rods.I also brace them on each bulkhead for support too. They come in all sizes too, they also make kevlar ones also.

These are the best. A lot of newer plane are designed with the servos in the tail. This is a more direct link but exsposes the servos.

Ralph-you might want to explore the "new" sullivan nyrod control rods that are carbon impregnated, they do not change with temperature like the old nyrod types, they come with several threaded rods for making the clevis connections, work great and easy to install. Also I use carbon arrow shafts, go to local archery shop and buy the odds and ends for a few bucks. Epoxy in a dowel with hole drilled for connector rod and you are in business, light and very little flex.

I use gold n rods with 1/16 MW inside the yellow inner rod. Works for me.
