I like building Airplanes. Which Magazine should I subscribe ? Flying Models - Kit Lanes or Model Airplane News. I Like a Magazine that shows Techniques, Plans and all about construction.

RCM and RC Reports are the best mag's on the market IMHO.

I like R/C Report, and MAN. RCM typically has way too much advertisement and too little substance for me.

You could with a laptop and a wireless card, but that's just gross!

In my humble opinion, you can't beat the British magazines for great articles and FREE plans. Here's a link to my favorite, RC Scale International.

Here's another good one, Flying Scale Models.

I agree with the last bloke but I'm probably biased as I live in the UK, but Radio Control Model World is about the best. Free plans in nearly every issue and not too much advertising. Check the web site.

AMI - Aero Model International - it includes the ol' Aeromodeller. Dang good reads and always good info/plans/etc. Covers ff, c/l and rc.

Quiet Flight International is a goodie as well but has priced itself off my shelf in recent times..good coverage of glider and electric.

The US mags - I buy Flying Models if there is something of interest in it. The others - no.

Go for the Brithish Mags, they are far superior for the scale buff, and very good free plans that are easy to enlarge if you want, unbeatable pictures, we're far to comercialized here, I used to buy just about every magazine available in this country, not anymore, unless there is something (usually a review) I need to inquire about, because I now have no access to the British mags, am going to suscribe to Traplett publications, I used to enjoy Norm Goyer's Scale Modeler, they always had 3 views and pictures of real airplanes which could be used to finish that scale model.
I really believe (I know some of you might think otherwise) that articles in our modelling magazines are just plain bad, there is a lot of talent writing them, it seems to me editing is where the problem is at and lack of sensible how to articles, most of the good stuff is found on the internet, thank God!

Even though I'm not a biased U.K. member, I have to agree, the British Mags are the best. Ours in the U.S. used to be as good...a long time ago.

Luizinho,
being your neighbor (I'm from Brazil) let's tell what I read.
Aero & Cia, from Brazil. Good coverage on events in Brazil, mainly on the area south of Minas Gerais State.
RC Modeler Magazine
Model Airplane News
R/C Report
Model Aviation (as an AMA member)

Now, most of the magazines charges very high rates when mailed overseas. Therefore, if you need to choose one or two, I would recommend Aero & Cia, R/C Report and RC Modeler. I agree that the later has a log of ads, but the columns signed by Clarence Lee (Engine Clinic) and Don Lowe (Flying Lowe) are very good stuff. They have a new contributor now, Jerry Fiesta, who used to write for R/C Report. Jerry does a column dedicated to beginners, which in your case will be very useful.

Scratchnfly

Oh yeah, we can build, we just don't make a big deal out of it! ;-)
