Whats the ratio for dye to water. A 40 size canopy in a subsequent sized pot. 1 Gallon of water to full box of dye?

The last time I saw the recommendations for Rit dye for tinting an average size canopy was when average size would have meant the size canopy for a 46-60size model. And they said to use 3 boxes of black and one box of navy blue in enough water to completely immerse the canopy.

I've tried to tint two in the last couple of years. One canopy was for the Hobbico Sukhoi. Another was for a Kyosho Cap 232. Both tries took about a gallon of water to cover in the container I have. Neither worked.
