Default Rubber bands to bolt on wings

Hello
I have a tower trainer 40 that I want to change from rubber bands to bolt on wings. Has anyone done this, and can you help me with advice or pictures. Any help will be very much appreciated.
Thank you
Fred

My advice is NOT to do it! I know rubber bands are a pain, but one dragged wingtip with nylon bolts and you get to rebuild the fuse!

Save the bolts for your next plane

Thanks for the advice, but I have been flying it for two years. I want to practice the change over because I don't have much to lose. It has seen it's better days. and I need the experiance and a new plane. Fred

In that case.....is there a former ahead of the wing's leading edge high enough for a dowel to protrude from the wing into it? If so, drill out a hole in both the former and the wing for a 1/4" dowel and glue it into the wing/

Glue two hardwood blocks near the trailing edge of the wing (inside the fuse), flush with the top of the fuse. Add some 1/8" ply plates to the top of the wing so when you drill through the plywood (and wing) and into the blocks you will have a secure trailing edge.

I'd tap the hardwood blocks for a 1/4-20 thread. Make sure you are using epoxy on the dowel (LE) and the blocks (TE) and ply plates ( these keep the bolts from crushing the balsa TE)/

Thanks Jerry, I don't have a former up front that would work so I guess I would have to put one in there. Would you or anyone have pictures of the Tower Hobbies Trainer 40 that they have changed over so that I can see exactly what needs to be done.?
Thank you for the help
Fred
