Default Canopies for Scratch Builders - Where?

forming your own is always cheapest, especially if you can find a soda bottle that just has to be cut to shape.

For a shape that won't quite cut out of the bottle. carve a block of wood to the correct shape, insert into a soda bottle, fill the excess space under the canopy with scrap (2X2 stock... whatever works) such that it pulls the bottle material around the carving, then heat, and the bottle material will shrink down around your form. If the fill material sticks out to the sides of the canopy form, it may cause bulges at the base.

the "plug" needs to have a very smooth surface, and any deviations in the surface will transfer, becomming more noticeable in the canopy.

When you've made a few simple canopies this way, you can get better results by making a vacuum forming box, with a frame to hold sheet plastic (3 liter soda bottles have lots of area, and can make some large canopies...) Hook up a household canister vac and using a heat gun (and/or pre-heating other type plastics in the oven) you can get practically any canopy you would need.
