Default Priming solartex?

I plan to paint my Bristol M.1a with latex. Do I need to prime the Solartex first?

It's not necessary.

I just completed my Decathlon that I covered with Worldtex, which I am told is the same as Solartex and I sprayed it with Latex paints, no primer. I am very happy with the results. If you are going to do any taping for other colors, you will need to let the first color dry for at least 3 or 4 days and when you are all done with colors, you will need to clear coat the whole thing. Good Luck, Dave

I have a Solartex covered Robinhood 80 that just has clear Lustrekote sprayed on it.

Lustrekote is Tower's paint that matches Monokote.

I get a sneaking suspicion it is on it's way out for there is not a tremendous selection of colors anymore.

Horizon has already discontinued the Ultracote paint

Thanks for the input guys. I've finished a Camel with Latex, but I used polyester dress lining which was sealed with nitra and butyrate dopes. By the way, e-power guys can skip the clear coat step (-:
