Default Covering Plastic Model

I have began work on my first ever build, a Modelfly Jupiter. I am wondering if since this is a plastic model if there is any tips or tricks for covering or painting the model. I of course have the normal stickers but I have seen some very cool monokote designs and paint jobs.

any suggestions would be helpful for a newbie.
