Default Wow, it worked!

Hi,

Maybe you guys had this idea already, but it was new for me.

I am restoring a SuperFli that I bought at auction for $10. One of the missing parts was the cowl.
I found some old MAN plans for the SuperFli that used a wooden cowl. After I made the cowl I figured
that I might as well try to use that as a mold for a fiberglass one, but wanted to conserve the wooden
cowl in case it did not work.

I covered the wooden cowl with masking tape, coated that with Vaseline, then put glad wrap over that.
Glassed it, let it dry, sanded, then using a heat gun, heating it a little to get the Vaseline slick. A little
convincing and off popped my new fiberglass cowl!

With a little trimming and a patch on one spot it will be fine. I was not sure this was going to work, so
I kind if rushed it a little. Next time it will need less sanding a patches.

Good work, you will get better the more you make, the more time spent with the plug(smothing it) the better the finished product. You could of made the cowl out of a foam block and then do the same thing with epoxy finishing resin and when set use a little petrol to desolve the foam and you have the cowl. I use this for a lot of builds.

Cheers
