Removing CA from hinges

Just curious as to the best way to remove excess CA from CA hinges. I do have too much on the hinged section and need to clean up that area.

Thanks in advance,

Kind of doubt that it's possible. But if it is, it would probably be by using CA debonder carefully.

It can be done.
Use a worn out exacto blade, snap off a little of the tip, and then dull it on something- sandpaper/cement block, ect. Use a backward scraping motion, gently. With patients, it will all come off. Patients being the key word.

Acetone works fine as a debonder for me

I will try the debonder method first, then try the scrapping. I know there are specific rules you need to adhere to when installing CA hinges, but for the life of me I can not keep from getting a slight accummulation at the point of hinging.
I have had guys tell me don't use too much CA ( 2-3 drops at the most) or you will have brittle hinges. Other sources tell to use 5-6 drops to be safe. Doesn't a drop depend on the size of opening in the glue dispenser?

I have used CA hinges on 6 different planes with no apparent failures, but would really like to know the proper and most effective way to install these. What is secret to acheive hinges you can depend on?

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Assemble the whole mess, then using thin CA, apply 3-4 small drops to each, flex immediately after application.

Before installing hinge, fold hing along the hinge line and rub a candle along the edge, fold the oposite way and repeat.
The CA will now not penetrate the hinge line.
Works for me anyway. :D
