smashed plans, any tips?
My rolled plans have been sitting in the kit for a bunch of years and i didn't put them back in the kit right. They were rolled up but got smashed and now have stove bar marks, bad! Any tips to get them nice and flat again?

Who is the kit manufacturer?? If they are still in business you can contact them and see if you can get a new set of plans. Most of the better manufacturers will replace the plans for you at low/no cost. For instance, I recently bought a Sig 4-Star 120 from a friend who had purchased it from Sig. When I finally got around to opening it up the plans were missing. A call to Sig had a replacement set of plans heading my directlon at no cost. I would see if you can go that route first and see if you can get a fresh new set of plans.

Try ironing them. Take the wifes iron and ironing board iron from from the backside. Any creases shoot a little steam to them.

I woild just take them to your local copy house and get a second set copied. That way you have a nice fresh set and a back up

Not really going to copy well if they are crushed. The copy maching will make lines out of all the wrinkles. Les |

The creases will also distort the drawing on the copy. Also commercial copy companies won't do copyrighted material. That is why the plans in the mags have permission, to enlarge one copy, written right on the plans. Ironing or replacement are your best bets. just be careful when ironing as the lines can transfer some with heat. I would hate to see you ruin your wifes iron or ironing board. Put wax paper down on the board and put the print down when ironing.

I have all of my plans scanned, one or two sets printed and then the scan file burned to a cd for future printing if req. Usually less than $7-10.00. If I need a new set of plans printed I can just email the file to the copy company and pick it up later with no wait. It is not illegal to copy anything for your own use. (except money:D) |

Ironing will work. Put a towel over them to protect from the direct heat. Kinda like a sock on your monokote iron. I iron my plans all the time. It is necessary when they do not come rolled. Many plans come folded. No biggie really.

Hang them by an edge in an area that has high humidity like a laundry room overnight. Often most of the wrinkles will smooth out and then you can iron them flat.
