I use 1" PVC with the foam insulation on it. You can get a lot of PVC pipe and fittings for $40.00. It is made to store a lot heavier things then planes so it should last for a long time.

Sometimes guys are willing to pay extra to have a nice professional looking unit,,, add some stick-on foam weatherstrip and you're in business

What's also nice with that system, the brackets are fully adjustable,, not just incrementally adjustable like most shelf brackets. And the shelf brackets can't fall off the standard

We're funny animals, ya know
we'll spend $30-$40 on one servo, hundreds and hundreds for planes without hesitation, but cheap out on how to store and protect those planes

I have to agree with blvdbuzzard. Pvc pipe and foam insulation can be made into ingenius airplane supports/hangars. And when the airplane inventory changes, they make great spare parts for sprinkler system repairs.

All I've been using is sheet of pegboard on the wall, 12" straight peg hooks, and pipe insulation..

Easy to adjust for most any wing..

I hang the fuselages on these.. $6 each at home depot

Scale only, I do agree with you about the money we spend. Yet, we spend the money on function. As in $100.00 servo, yet I also spend $7.00 on a servo too. I see it as a need thing. I need something to hang my planes from. I would fill up the rack pretty quick. It is a good thing for those of us that have a few planes, but when you try to hang 40 plus planes on it, you out grow a single rack pretty quick. Plus I need to rearrange the rack as I move it around the shop.

The only problem I have With PVC in a wing rack is lack of versatility,, once you glue it up, you're stuck with that configuration.

I use the old fashioned face out shelf standards and add pipe insulation for cushion, they are easily adjusted if I want to reconfigure things

Now, your issue with having 40 + planes??? I think you need to talk with a PHD about that ;)

Scale, we all have our addictions :) Mine just happens to be R/C stuff. When I started a remodel on the Master bed room, kitchen I had to make room fast so I threw this together. It is one of three racks like this. I was only going to use it for about 6 months or so. That was the plan for the remodel. Well, after a lot of issues with the remodel, loosing my job twice, I am still using it. It has been just under three years now. I want to rearrange it for a better, safer way of doing it. I have found that if I make the horizontal pieces longer, I can hang two planes one in front of the other without getting hanger rash. The slots, where the fuse goes is 6 inches wide.
