Midwest Push Pins Not a Bargain

I purchased a thousand of these Push Pins from Midwest Products, at about $5 per box of 50 for a model building project with students at a local middle school, and they are worthless. If you need push pins you are better off spending the $7 per box for the German made pins, sold by Peck (A to Z Corp.) I sent Midwest and e-mail explaining the problem, and got no reply. I have attached a drawing showing what the problem is. (loose shafts and bent tips.)

I use Hobbico T-pins, they come in three sizes 1", 1 1/4" and 1 1/2" and are pretty inexpensive in packs of 100.

I like Hobby Lobby's pins. That's the one in Nashville. Used them for years and never a problem:

The ones I have are orange but everything else is the same.

+1 on the T-pins
The top never comes loose on T-pins,, they don't roll of the table either

T-pins are good, and if you get the T-pin driver/puller gizmo you are golden. :D

I've had the same experience with the midwest pins. They are also very flimsy. I was gently pushing a pin through 1/16 balsa sheet in an 1/8" balsa wing, and the pin bent 90 degrees. Talk about a cheap pin.

I go to my local arts and crafts store and get pins by the 100 count and they come in a nice little plastic case. Now thats a bargain!

Most all fabric/sewing stores sell several sizes of good T-pins for about 1/10 of what they go for through RC hobby vendors.
