Remove paint from tires?
Anyone know of a good way to remove dried spray paint overspray from tires without harming the rubber?

If its specs.. you can take a shish-ka-bob spear tip (bamboo ones) and flick it off either lifting an edge or picking at the paint. The bamboo won't hurt the tire unless your to agreesive.

RE: Remove paint from tires?
Thanks for the advice, but it's a lot more than specks. In some places it's almost completely covered. I purchased the plane with this problem and I'd like to clean it up. I can remove the tires to work on them, but I just want to know what to do. Thanks in advance.

Grab a can of acetone from your local parts store or hardware store...it will wipe it right off! Most fingernail polish removers are acetone, but about 3 times the price...I guess they know most women don't hang out where guys do! :)

Overspray won't hurt the functionality, them tires will work fine. If you want it cleaned for cosmetic purposes, a solvent may work but which solvent will depend on the type of paint and it might attack the rubber. As they say, test in an inconspiciuous area first. Start with acetone and ramp it up from there until it starts damaging the tire. Another option would be to scuff sand, that should clean it off. If all else fails, new wheels aren't expensive.
