Tape For Canopy
I am having to install a new canopy on my airplane and when I took the old one off, it had a thick white tape that went all around the canopy. It was very sticky and did a great job trimming it and holding down the front. Sides are held down with glue, but the white tape was trim.
Anyone have any idea what kind of tape this was? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Mike |
RE: Tape For Canopy
I have used Carl Goldberg trim tape in the pass. it good it fuel proof ... so to speak. But its becoming hard to get. I what I found the best is Auto trim tape. You just have to seal it to make it fuel proof... The best thing to hold canopies on is RC Z-56 It goes on white and dries clear.

|

Try this, sailmakers tape.

RE: Tape For Canopy
I will look at the auto trim tape... the sailmakers tape is double sided and this needs to only be one sided. I think what was on there must have been the Carl Goldberg trim tape. Really nice stuff and did a great job of holding now the front of the canopy. Shame they still don't make it that much.

I've used regular electrical tape, it comes in many colors, get the good 3M stuff
Good luck |

I have used electral tape too also pin striping from the auto body shop..It sticks real well...Clean yourcovering with acetone before applying the tape and it will stick better..I very often will use #0 x 1/4" screws to hold the canopy on They look good and hold great

You could just go to your $1 large button calculator from the dollar store. It has about a dozen screws that work perfect

Something is always coming loose inside the canopy so I like to use screws. It is easier to make the driver sit back down.
