ESC/receiver separation distance

Hi guys

I am in process of trying to set up a new plane on electric. I am wondering what the distance between the esc and receiver should be? Is there any danger of rf noise getting into the receiver from the esc? I suspect so as there is an rf choke in the receiver lead on my Castle unit.

Thanks

Bruce

I have heard you need to have them far apart. Yet I have flown my helicopter on 72 for years with the Rx tie wrapped to the top of the ESC. When I switched to 2.4g I put it in the same place, never had an issue. I have run my antenna between the servos, put the Rx on top of, besides, under all of the electronics on board and never had an issue.

So, this is how I do it. You mileage may vary.

Just range check it, If Ok fly. If no range, move stuff.

2.4 doesn't benefit from an RF choke, but it won't hurt anything.

As others have said, range testing is your friend.
