Hobby King Covering

I want to recover my RC Guys Decathlon. I would like to try Hobby King's covering if it will hold up well under normal flying. Has anyone used this covering? Is there any tips or special instructions on how to apply it? For the cost it may be worth a try.

Thanks
Rich

Rich, you will really like the HK covering. It goes on much easier than any other film I've ever used. Much, much better than Monokote. I've used it on all my planes for the last couple of years. This is all HK film. The P-47 has been flying for a full season and still looks great.

Thanks Charlie, for the up date. Thought I saw a thread somewhere about this covering, there was a few comments, some bad but most were good. I think I'll try it, you can't beat the price.

Do you plan to go to Eureka Spring and the Okie Dawn Patrol in Guthrie?

I'm hoping to make the meets this year. The only thing about HK film is that the backing can be a little difficult to unstick.

The China coat works pretty well. It is strong, has good shrink, goes around corners well, plus cost is really good. I get mine from hobbypartz. But they seem to be out of everything again. When they get some in, it does not last long.

Buzz.

I didn't know that Hobby King sold covering. It may be similar to the old English made Solarfilm. I used a lot of
Solarfilm back in the 1970s and 1980s. I am assuming it is thinner than Monokote and takes a lower heat. I know you could apply Solarfilm directly over foam.

"Chinacoat" is not Solarfilm. It's better in my opinion. Chinacoat takes less heat than Monokote, but more than Solarfilm.
