DIY Retract Air Tanks?

IS it possible to convert small aerosol cans into air tanks for retracts?

I know this is going to sound crazy.. but wasn't their a time when people were actually wrapping plastic pop bottles with strong tape and using them? I think I even recall a couple models getting blown up because people put TOO much air in them !

Absolutely they flew with the large soda bottles. Planes were either blown up in the pits as the modeler was pressurizing the bottle or in the hot sun while either in the pits or FLYING they blew up. I witnessed one in the pits many years ago. Was a great idea, but obviously not a good end result.

I don't think I would trust a plastic bottle I was thinking of a metal bottle.

Yeah I recall a rather large nice looking plane that looked like an M-80 had gone off in it. I wonder if some of the aluminum beer bottles they were selling for awhile would have been possible? I suppose it depends on the bung setup..I know they were making mufflers from them for awhile..
