I agree.. Just blast the stone clean and leave it exposed. It is a good insulator as well.

Thank you all for your pics and comments. I'm planning on building a shop soon, and I really appreciate all of the ideas that I have gained here. I'm a scratch builder, so having a dedicated shop will really help. LIke some of the pics show, I'm also sure that I'll fill the shop all too quickly. Any comments about what you would do if you were going to build one all over again? Thanks, Lee

Below is a picture of my shop. Itry to to a bit more to it every winter in between building projects. The next steps are to drywall the ceiling and add a utility sink. You can see my shop in action by going to www.vintageaerocraft.com and clicking on the webcam tab.

Salute!

Love those Starmax F18s but only with the setup from Extreme RC.
Wemotec Midifan PRO $90.00
ARC3675 inrunner $149.00
LIGHTNING 80A ESC $88.00

With a 6s battery she runs through the traps at 118. I use the spring air retracts (#602)off of grass. They work great.

My son has a couple of F-18 from Banana Hobbies and loves the way it flys - but the nose gear and motor/ESC are crap!

I'm working on moving from a small corner in my garage to a 12' x 16' garden shed that I am converting to a workshop. I have not done anything to the ceiling yet. No airplane stuff in there yet, but soon I hope.

Well I thought I might as well add my shop/garage/hangar in with the rest of you guys. Get's a little messy once and awhile but I've got most of the essentials I need :D

Currently putting together one of AeroWorks P-51's - Going to me an awesome bird I think !!

Look at all the bats hanging from the rafters! LOL

GPutt33 those planes are really piling up on you. Try adding a little more boldness in your flying that should take care of it. ;)

What you don't see in the pic is the tail feather tribute/memorial wall [8D] :D I do fly every single plane that's hanging, although the bright orange one up towards the front on the left hasn't been maidened yet. It's the Reactor Bipe, and I'm really looking forward to it. My brother is worried I'm going to end up ripping the wings off of it like the Twist's :D;) I just kind of fly till I happen to have an open slot for some reason and then decide what to fill it up with ;)

Lots of you guys have some pretty awesome dedicated RC workshops! I "build" in my upstairs bonus room, which is shared for oil painting, sewing, video games, playing pool, and a computer, etc. It's large though, and I get to stay warm and comfortable when I work in here, especially during the Winter. While I work, I also can watch ball games, listen to a small stereo, or listen to live radio from Hawaii over the computer. I use the workbench, the desk, and the covered pool table for different work areas. I find working on the covered pool table is my favorite due to the largest work surface and the best lighting in the room. I even do my cowls up here with the rotary tool, and just run a vacuum with the tip inches away from the rotary tool. Sucks the dust right up immediately. For the times I need the band saw, I just run down to the garage. My planes are all stored in the garage. Works for me! If I was kit building like in the old days, I would be in the garage due to all the sanding and shaving. Jon

My dedicated shop in the basement. It was a stipulation with the wife when we were house shopping that I have it. Band saw, scroll saw, drill press, belt/disk sander, grinder, table saw, jointer, chop saw, dust collection, TV, stereo, coffee, microwave, computer, and bathroom. This is a posed picture, most of the planes sleep out in the garage.
