My biggest challenge right now is getting the models off the floor, table, bench, and leaned against walls, and sticking them up on a rack. I don't know how many dings, breaks, etc I've had due to improper storage!

Thank you The-Plumber and DrDeath. You both have great work tables! I am going to incorporate those ideas into a work table for my shop. I like those steel brackets you used for the frame. Hope my local Lowes has them. I will also attach my door to the frame with wooden dowells so I can lift it off and move the frame in case I have to work on our cars in the winter. I use part of the garage. The finished aircraft hang from the ceiling.

My wife and I recently moved into an older house with a leaky basement and little potential for a good shop. After cleaning up the basement, I decided to try my hand at cabinet building. It turn out to be a lot of fun, I just hope whoever buys the house from us gets as much enjoyment out of it as I have.

Hey I had a leak in my foundation/basement recently and I fixed it with a 2 part epoxy injection kit that they sell at Menards. It sure works and is very inexpensive. You did a nice job on the cabinets. Mike

The water problem is pretty much fixed now. There was a gap between the driveway and the side of the house that was letting water run down the foundation. I sealed that gap, installed a sump pump and am using a dehumidifier. I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to moving to a warmer climate (so I can fly more) and into a modern house with room to build my dream shop. Now that my wife and I bought this old house and fixed it up, we can say we've been there and done that. The best part is after all the work we've done we should make out pretty good in selling it.

The hurricanes have blown most of my family out of Florida and they seem to be landing in North Carolina. This is great because the other half of my family is in Virginia. I hear there are some great clubs and pilots in NC. Is it a problem when you decide to pack up and move just to be close to some great clubs? Of course I'll never tell my wife this motive for wanting to move there. :D

My poor ugly shop... But its better than the room in the moble home where I built my first!
Problem is I've accumulated soooo much more crap!! Band saw, belt sander, drill press ...
I get more dings during building than I do fly'in for sure!

I have seen some pretty nice work shops and somewhere in this thread is mine, at least I think I posted some. I think sometimes we forget just how good we have it here when it comes to our hobby and don't think about what it's like in other countries where space and hobby shops are limited. My good friend dimitry and godbrother has to have a great wife as she found him probably the last T/F P-39 aircobra in Moscow and he sent me this picture of where he's building it, yup under the stairs. Yes we are lucky and I sure do hope dimi don't mind me posting this.

It's workable! The left side corner of my workshop, which is not visible, you will find all my mistakes...... whoops, crashes which can be repaired.......but it seems never are!

I guess in BC you can get away with working in the garage all year round. Is it heated? Do you still fly throughout the year or break for 3 months.

Nah, after I thought about it a little I dont think it would work. Most of us are pretty anal about the shop. My wife is not allowed to CLEAN anything in there, much less GO in there. It is clearly an organized disaster. You would probably get a response like "What the h@ll have you done? Where is my screw jar? And glue?" . But it did get a smile outa me.

My wife cleaned up the shop with her electric blower to get the spider webs off the wall and stuff off the floor. Her heart was in the right place but …

It took about three months to return from horrible nightmare to organized disaster. I sweep more often hoping to avoid help. Occasionally I put everything up and then carry all airplanes and wings to the driveway. After she cleans up I move it all back. What a chore.

The suggestion that I might clean up and rearrange her kitchen cabinets was not well received.
