fuel soaked balsa help

After a crash, I decided to not only repair but also recover my Kyosho Stearman PT17 arf. When removing the covering, I noted fuel soaked into the balso up around the engine and wing saddle area. What is the best way to remove/eliminate this so that the new covering will adhere correctly.

Thank you.

RE: fuel soaked balsa help

We used to cover the area with kitty litter; I have heard K2R spot lifter works, if still being sold. JIM

you can also soak the area with rubbing alcohol and put cornstarch on top. As the alcohol evaporates through the cornstarch, it soaks up the oil. A lot cheaper than K2R if doing a large area. Get as much oil out as you can. It may take several applications of alcohol and cornstarch, then use balsarite or stickit before you try to recover the area.
