Hot glue of CA

I have two foam models that need minor repair, one is a Ikarus Shock Flyer the other is a GWS Moth (Two different types of foam).

I have friendly CA and a hot glue gun.

Which glue shoudl I use on which model?

Thanks,

From past experience the hot glue gun will melt the foam before it's hot enough to use.
I'd go with foam safe CA, or better yet (and faster/cheaper) 5 min. epoxy.

I use the hot glue gun on both. Also the glue that comes with the Tiger Moth works very well on both.

I agree with the 5 min. epoxy. It holds better than the foam safe CA.

Hey Jett, how do you manage to melt the foam with the hot glue gun, unless you put the nozzle right on the foam. i take it out to the field with a 300 watt 110 volt inverter plugged into the lighter. A buddy broke the nose clean off his shockflier and was back in the air in 20 mins.

Hmmmmm.... don't know. High power A/C glue gun vs. D/C low power glue gun? I know I've tried to use it on several foams, and it melts them all. Even blue construction foam. It's almost compatable with EPP......

Your right, could be just a power thing. This is one of the small ones, .300 thou. glue stick. Says 10 watts, low heat is 221d F. 330 on high.

Perhaps it's the chemical make-up of my glue sticks?

Go to a craft store and get a LOW MELT hot glue gun and low melt hot glue sticks. I've been using those things for ages and the temp is low enough to not melt foam, but still a good glue for light things like your foamies. Lots safer too- the burns from that hot melt stuff are hedious!
