You need to use a thrust washer puller(or something like it). [link=http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCA72&P=0]Heres a link[/link] to one from tower hobbies made by OS. It's got a compression bushing that holds the washer on. You have to apply force against the crankshaft, while pulling against the washer in the opposite direction, and it has to be done with the same tool or fixture.

RE: new bearings ?

Try to put it on like a new bearing, using a socket large enough to fit over the crankshaft, and deep enough to go all the way down. Then supporting the crankshaft with a piece of wood in the rear openingto prevent it from being pushed out the back. It is very important that the load is put on the back of the crankshaft and not the crankcase. Another way that someone might say is to heat up the thrust washer since it's aluminum, and tap it on carefully before it cools. Just like iserting the new bearings.

I just simply slip the brass collet back on the shaft, then the drive washer, put a prop on it and then the prop washer and nut. While holding the crank all the way forward in the case slowly tighten up the prop nut until the prop is very secure...as you would to put a prop on. It's there!

Get a "battery terminal puller" at the Auto Parts store, and pull off the prop
stud. There is a tapered collet in there, and a puller is the best way to get it
off without damage.

Like Gene said....when you put it back together and tighten it down, it will
once again hold everything tight, as well as pull the crankshaft forward to
provide the correct end-play for the crank. ;)

FBD. ;)
