Stretchy Tape for Sealing Surfaces

I picked up some Stretchy Tape by Scotch at Walmart and applied some to my Something Extra Ailerons. It appeared to be ideal for this purpose but I am not sure it it will take the fuel , sun, and will stay stuck to the airplane. If anyone has used it before let me know before I apply it to the other surfaces. It is very flexable and plyabel not stiff like packing tape.

I tried using the Blenderm tape that I use on foamies as hinges. It's actually a medical type tape and made for skin so it handles oil well, I sealed the gaps in my Funtana with it and its holding up quite well after a couple dozen flights so far.

You are using a different kind of tape. But my experience with regular Scotch tape is that the oil will get to it. Also once I took off and the ailerons were not effective. Flew straight and landed in the weeds. Turned out that the tape was restricting aileron movement.

The picture shows a strip of plastic attached to a wing with screws and it worked well.

I use scotch tape to hold the canopies on to the fuselages and believe me it sticks like a SOB. Never had a problem with oil interacting with the tape. GL

I have been using 3m packaging tape for years, with no problems. You have to install it right, you have to fully deflect the control surface before applying the tape, if you do not deflect the control surface it will lock it into the neutral position. LOLOLOLOLOL

Duct tape makes a new clear version that is fabulous. Sticks very well.
