Method for attaching a pilot

Is there any tried and true method for attaching a pilot to his cockpit? I have a resin pilot that I need to put in a TF P-47. I have the cockpit kit, which is painted plastic. Can I just use epoxy? Is there a better method for getting him in there?

I just used a screw through the bottom of the hatch deck and up into his body. [:@]

Held fine. He tended to squirm a bit as I inserted the screw but was fine after I gave him a little bit o'alcohol.;)

Yep.... a screw up the pilots......well...you know...this is a family board;)
with a bit of epoxy for good measure....

I hadn't thought of giving any alcohol to the pilot.... I usually kept it all for myself!:D

dont forget to put a Estes rocket parachute on his back w/static release. My buddies pilot(Booboo-the bigheaded labrador) ejected after his Twist was involved in a midair. He's still listed as MIA.

Com on Booboo, turn on your locator beacon![:@]

i used CA glue and it took five crashes to separate the pilots head from the fuse. Good thing it separated, because I was going to fire his azz. GL

That was pretty funny SoonerAce. I had a mouthful of cashews when I read your estes rocket egres maneuver and spit them all over my monitor. :D Bout time I cleaned the darn thing anyway.

Try attaching a piece of 1/32 hard ply to bottom of pilot (glue or screws) with corners that protrude enough to secure him (her) (it) to the bottom of cockkit with 2-3 small screws. Mine has to use restroom after each flight. Have not had one jump out yet, but they have leaned over the side, from time to time.

Velcro is your friend ! It's removeable and cuts down somewhat on vibration transmitted to the item (not really a factor here)

I can attest that Silicone does NOT work. Had a Jack head in a GP Ultra Sport. 2nd tank of gas breaking in the engine, he lost his head. Spun faster than the keno balls up in Tahoe!! Epoxy and screw is now holding him in place, one eye and all .... Greg
