Pull-Pull cable tension.?

Putting a pull-pull system together...all working great. geometry seems good... but here is the silly question...

How much tension do you put in the cables at nuetral?

ie: how taut(tight) are the cables when the control surface is at nuetral and centered??

Cheers

That's tough to answer - How Tight is "Tight"?

The way I would describe it is to say they should be tight, so there is no slack, but not so tight that it is going to rip the servo out of it's mount or put any undue strain on it.

Put just enough to hold the slack out of them. More than that is just adding wear and tear to the servo bearings. Have seen them actually loose and working well with no problem. Half of the stuff that I fly has pull pull and to date that system has never been a problem. Retracts on the other hand........

As Gremlen says, leave them as loose as possible, just barely take the slack out of them. do watch the alignment though, you want the lines to NEVER tighten as you go off center. If the line not being pulled goes slightly slack when off center, that is no problem, in fact preferably.

I did it with just enough to hold them straight... and the no pulling line gets just a scosh of slack when I deflect... Think I did OK:D... thanks all!
