Coverite over Coverite

I'm using Coverite for the first time on a Bristol M1. Did bottom of left wing and it turned out very nice. Started to do bottom of right wing and overlapped 2 inches at the center. Could NOT get the Coverite to stick to itself no matter what I tried. Temp ranged from 250 to 350+ with no luck. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks in advance for some help.

Remove the backing? <g>

I've never had that problem! Are you only trying to overlap the LE and TE? If so, heat that immediate area and PULL the covering over the bottom of the LE. It may hold its heat a bit longer, so don't release the covering until it has cooled down a bit and the glue hardens.

I just repaired a J3 Cub wing with a fabric coverite patch. I used Sig "Stix It" around the edges. let dry and ironed on the fabric. cleaned up the edges and looks good. I imagine BalsaRite will work just as well

Thanks Tedster.

I have some Stix and I'll give it a try tomorrow. :)

Did the Stix it fix your problem?

Hi Ted,
I tried Balsarite over the already stuck portion, then ironed on the overlap and so far so good.

Thanks again.
