Best Planer?
 

Anyone have any suggestions on a "planer"?

Have been looking at both manual (master airscrew) and electric (gp power planer), and just don't know which way to go.

Any thoughts or feedback?

I have the GP and I can say that it's a dandy little tool.

I have the Master Airscrew and like it - also the GP "Motorized" version but haven't used it yet.

I have the GP motorized. Make sure you practice with it on some scrap. It's a great tool but when you get to the edge of your piece.... well let's just say some practice is in order :D

I have one of the MA planes and have used the GP powered one a little bit. I waasn't happy with either one. I had one from many years ago that used to work fantastic but I had ran out of blades and couldn't find them anymore. That's why I was trying the others. Anyway I just found a supplier for my old one. It's called a David Combi-plane and it's really inexpensive, relatively speaking. I just got a couple packs of new blades in the mail today from,,,,

It's out of the UK but they have lots of little tools and other items that may come in handy for some.
I placed my order last saturday, paid via paypal and I got them today. I'm very happy with my fresh blades!

I still use a David i bought back in the 60's. Still going strong. All metal, none of this plastic stuff!!

Hobby Lobby has the best one I have ever used. It uses double edge razor blades that you can get at any grocery or drug store.
It will plane off balsa strips so thin you can see through them.

I agree with the prior post. The Hobby Lobby one is real hard to beat.
