Broken wing dowels, help
I crashed my Excelleron 90 into trees this weekend and suprizingly enough it suvived very well exept the 2 dowels in the front middle of the wing that locate the wing to the fuse. They both broke off at 3/8 to a 1/2 inch into the wing. It looks as if I could epoxy them into exact location but will this be enough to hold the wing?
I have also thought of doing this epoxy thing then drill down the middle of the dowel about 1 1/2 inches and insert 3/32 piano wire for strength. Any ideas? |
RE: Broken wing dowels, help
Drill them out completely, and replace the whole length, it's easy to do. ;)
FBD. :D |
RE: Broken wing dowels, help
Thanks Dave,
The dowels were broke off splintered and at first I would think that the drill would walk around and get off center but I tried a forstner bit and it worked fine. I was hoping there would be an easier way than opening up the wing. Thanks again |

Good show !! It took less time to drill 'em out than it did
thinkin' about it, huh ? ;) FBD. :D |

Hi!
I never use wood dowels ...Easton aluminum arrow shaft tubings are lighter and never wear down (compress) like wooden dowels. Regards! Jan K Sweden |
